Description

In the heart of alpine majesty, a concept of minimalist luxury redefines the mountain experience. This design, carefully integrated into its natural surroundings, offers an unparalleled connection with the imposing force of the mountains, providing astonishing views of Chamonix and its surroundings.

Design that Honors Nature

Our primary goal was to create a home that merges tradition with modernity, respecting the magic of its location. Inspired by radical geometries and minimalism, we have transformed historical influences into a timeless aesthetic. The central idea was to refine the classic chalet image, harmoniously integrating it into the rugged mountain landscape, while preserving its history and vernacular architecture. By applying Mies Van der Rohe's "less is more" principle, we have purified shapes and materials to capture their true essence.

Structural Elegance and Authentic Materials

The construction adheres to local roof regulations (35 degrees), vital for alpine conditions, while honoring the sensuality of the traditional facade. For lasting comfort and protection against the weather, we opted for a solid stone base. The first floor is adorned with aged grey wood panels, sourced from old farms and cottages, some of them centuries old. The combination of the roof and facade not only serves a function but are the key elements that give this property its distinctive and welcoming character.

Interiors Bathed in Light and Panoramic Views

The interior space has been designed with critical importance given to natural light and mountain views. A masterfully overcome architectural challenge was to keep the space free of roof support structures, especially with a fourteen-meter span and facing strong winds and snow. The innovative solution, respecting Chamonix's standards, involved the use of three fixed clamped steel frames that eliminate the need for interior walls. This not only expands the space but allows for the incorporation of immense windows that frame breathtaking views of Mont Blanc and the Glacier des Bossons, merging outdoor beauty with the home's atmosphere. The choice of aged grey wood, combined with anthracite and brown reflections blending into stone and lime, accentuates the desired sculptural character, perfectly integrating the construction with the mountain's natural tones. In the late afternoon, the sun's rays caress the solid cedar table and the long boards of a bespoke parquet floor.

Rest with Views and Additional Spaces

The master bedroom also benefits from floor-to-ceiling windows, equipped with an intelligent curtain system offering spectacular day and night views. On the ground floor, there are four additional bedrooms, complemented by a sauna and a comfortable living room.

Exterior Harmony

The garden perfectly blends with the mountain environment, thanks to a complex and balanced interaction between terraces, earthworks with rocks, and a selection of plants that beautify the entire area.
